South America is interesting. I wrote a long time ago that there are more Italians living in Sao Paolo, Brazil than in any city in Italy. Now I find that there are more people speaking Portuguese in Brazil than in Portugal (it's the national language). This Brazil is quite a country.
In Brazil there lives more than 200 million people. In the USA, there are more than 300 million. Their gross domestic product (GDP) is about $1.6 trillion. The USA has a $23+ trillion GDP.
The capitol city of Brazil is Brasilia while the most populous city is Sao Paolo and the second largest is Rio de Janeiro. Rio is a seaside city famous for its beaches, huge Carnival celebration and parades, sprawling poor areas, not to mention, the Girl from Ipanema walks the beaches there. Oh yes, Jesus Christ the Redeemer looks over it all from atop a high mountain.
For some reason, whenever I think of Brazil, I think of the Amazon. These large cities noted above are in the far southern part of Brazil while in the northern states you will find the greatest river on Earth. The Amazon river drains the huge rain forests that cover not only northern Brazil but also parts of Peru and Columbia.
There's a lot to learn about Brazil and all of South America. There are great resources there. I think some day it will be as powerful as those in the northern hemisphere if they learn to shuck the tyranny of socialist government.
