Just statistics, today.
In rounded estimates, there are 330,000,000 people in the USA. That includes 130,000,000 households according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
Now, 40% or about 50,000,000 of those households have at least one dog. This brings us to the total number of dogs in the country to 76,000,000.
That's a lot of dogs. We have more than twice as many as any other country. Americans love their dogs.
Currently, the American Kennel Club (AKC) recognizes 197 distinct breeds. The various types of Labradors are the overwhelming favorites.
Have we gone too far with this pet-loving? Are our animals taking the place of people? This all says something about people and our society. It could be sad.
