RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

WATER

Has anyone told you recently that you are "all wet?"  Of course, we all know that young people and new comers are "wet behind the ears!"  Does this mean that it's a bad thing?

There is a strong relationship between water and our bodies.  We need lots of water to function.  It's stored in almost every cell.  It's good to be "all wet."

Do you put a moisturizer on your skin?  Drink gallons of water every day?  Soak in a tub until you wrinkle?   Do you think that helps?

The wettest part of your body is your brain; the driest is your bones and teeth.  The brain can be almost 80% water.  Brains of the elderly shrink from loss of moisture.  (Maybe that's why I forget so often.)

Muscle cells hold more water than most other cells.  Fat cells hold less.  Now, you really do want to be "all wet", don't you?  Go ahead, create more muscle cells and drink lots of water while you do.

That water also helps lubricate our joints.  It helps with digestion and other bodily functions.  (#1 & #2)

Babies are made up of a lot more water than old people - about 85%.  Just like old newspaper and leftover french fries, we tend to dry out as we age  - down to 45%.  (By now, I'm almost kindling.)  Not good!

Okay!  I've made my pitch for the drinking water industry.  This was not a paid promotion - just an old man dreaming of wetter days - before my brain started shrinking and my muscle cells turned into fat cells.
