MIDWEEK PRAYER

Yesterday was the anniversary of my marriage to Suzanne ... fifty-eight years ago.  It was a blessing.  We were blessed with each other, with children and with a good life.  Let us pray, today, for married couples and those preparing to be wed.  It is a serious thing, marriage.  This country needs good, solid married couples.  They are the stabilizing force of our society and the source of good citizens to follow.   This one is from the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC.  

Oh God, who in creating the human race,

willed that man and wife should be one,

keep, we pray, in a bond of inseparable love,

those who are united in the covenant of marriage,

so that, as you make their love fruitful,

they may become, by your grace, witnesses to love itself.

We ask this through Jesus Christ,

Amen
