ANNA MARIA ISLAND

A unique project is scheduled for October in Holmes Beach, Florida.  The city is planning to move a cottage built in 1931 from it's original location at 109 48th street to a place they call Grassy Point Preserve.  The intention is to use it as a cultural center to be used by locals and visitors.

Holmes Beach is a city on Anna Maria Island which is located at the northern terminus of the keys that run along central Florida coast in the Gulf of Mexico.  These keys include Bradenton Beach, Longboat Key, Siesta Key, and the keys of Sarasota.

The city has budgeted a $100,000 to move the old building to the new site.  The building will need to be lifted and a new foundation installed prior to the move.

I've spent some wonderful, relaxing time in that little cottage and the white sands it touches.
