THE LETTER 'Z'

At lunch last week someone brought up Zanzibar; an acquaintance was actually visiting there this week.  That seemed strange to me since it was a young lady.

I had heard of it but couldn't quite locate it on a map.  It turns out, it's a small island just off the East coast of Tanzania in the Indian Ocean.  Those people are into 'Z's".

That made me wonder about cities in the U.S. beginning with the letter 'Z'.  Well, there are 25 of them with population over 1,000 and only six with more that 10,000 residents.  Do you know one or two?

By population, the largest is in Indiana, Zionsville, 33,099.  Keep in mind that there are about 50,000 people living in Mason, Ohio.   These 'Z' cities are not really very large.  By the way, they are all east of the Rockies.

The next largest is Zanesville, Ohio - I've been there and it's not too exciting.  Number three is Zion, Illinois.  These are followed closely by Zephyrhills, Florida; Zachary, Louisiana; and Zebulon, North Carolina at 10,189 residents.

Well, I haven't seen so many 'Z's" since I fell asleep on the couch the other day and woke up to Brad Pitt saving the world during World War Z; or was that Antonio Banderas in Zorro?

If this entry put you to sleep, you now know why they call it "catching some Z's."  Smile.
