RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

3/09/2025

SON DAY

Today is the first Sunday of Lent.

You may have recently remembered that fasting is very hard.  Abstaining from meat is hard.  Giving alms is sometimes hard.  Helping those in need is also sometimes hard.

Bullshit!  Playing college basketball when you only have one arm is hard.

A sometimes starting guard for the Austin Peay State University Governors mens basketball team is Emmanuel Hansel, 6'6" 167 lb junior from the Dominican Republic who lost most of his left arm in a childhood accident.  I'll give you a few seconds to think about that ............. ........................................ He's averaging 2.3 ppg and 2.5 rpg with 15 assists, 16 blocked shots, 20 steals and only 4 turnovers this year.

So, if you're down on your luck?? or feeling poorly?? or thinking that doing anything special for lent is too hard . . . think of Emmanuel.  You can do it.

p.s. Sadly, you won't get to see Hansel in the Big Dance this year.  His team lost in the second round of their league tournament.  Tune in next year and look for number 24.
