When I was growing up, there was a TV show called the Mickey Mouse Club. Very popular with preteens in the middle 1950's. The show aired about 5pm, I think. It was on every weekday from 1955 to 1959 - 3 television seasons. Of course, it was in black and white - this is before color was available.
It was a variety show with kids as stars. You could see kids your own age, see their names on their shirts, and maybe relate to what they were doing. Some of these kids became stars after the show had run its course. Stars like, Annette Funicello, with whom every preteen young man was in love.
Each day the show opened with a song - a different variant of the same song each day. Part of one of those songs, I'll never forget. It had a great line: "This is a day that is filled with surprises, nobody knows what going to happen." Every once in a while, I catch myself singing that song in the morning. And, it's soooo true.
Have a great day, friends.
