MIDWEEK PRAYER

Last weekend we celebrated Divine Mercy Sunday.  Here is an entry I made about it a few years ago.

MIDWEEK PRAYER

There is a saint of the Catholic church named Saint Faustina.   She was a Polish nun who experienced visions of Jesus Christ and subsequently started a devotion to Him in the name of Divine Mercy.  Faustina was canonized in the year 2000 and devotion to Jesus as Divine Mercy has resulted.  The prayer of St. Faustina is simple, "Jesus, I trust in you."  That's it.  That's the whole thing.  Say it.  Say it often.  Believe.

The idea of trust is an important one.  I'm sure there are those you know who you think you can trust (to do what is right).  I'm sure there are those who think they can trust you (to do what is right).   It is humbling to know that someone can trust you.

Trust is best when it is a mutual thing.   Trust means to have faith that the other person will do as expected.  Mutual trust is only felt for positive outcomes.

Now comes God.  We can say we trust Jesus; that we trust God.  Does God trust us?  It would be humbling to know.

Well, he does trust me and maybe you too.  How do I know?  He gave me children.  Children are the most awesome responsibility we have in this world.  God trusted me with this gift.   Of course, our whole lives are gifts but to put another's life in our hands is a greater gift.  I pray I have done as He had hoped when He gave me that gift.

Jesus, I trust in you!
