I'm sure you've said "Upsy Daisy" once or twice. Probably, to a child. What does it mean, exactly? I don't know.
Upsy-Daisy is supposed to be reassuring to a baby or small child as you throw them up in the air. I have no idea why. Maybe they thought you were going to say "upside-down" and they are relieved to hear differently.
How did it get started? Maybe Grandma couldn't remember the child's name so she called her Daisy. It's all pretty silly if you ask me.
Maybe grandma should really say, "Oopsy Daisy" just in case she drops the kid. "Ooops" would be appropriate. A lot better than "Oh Shit!"
I think I prefer to settle for "Wee!" Come to think of it, that fits much better because the baby will probably pee in their pants and we all know what "wee-wee" means.
Do you say any silly words?
