For several years, many years ago, on New Years' Day, I reviewed the past year and it was quite interesting. To do that, I began at the beginning of the year by writing and adding things as the year went on. It was a good way to do it. This year, I wish I had done that but I didn't. I'll try to remember things as best I can and I will accept corrections and additions. Here goes.
January: I tried some indoor golf. It wasn't too great. Ben and Bella were experiencing what Winter is really like - North Dakota style. First of Thursday dinners of the year with old friends. Lucy was excited about the Buckeyes football team. Maddy probably added another cat to her family this month. I picked up my friend Clyde two days a week to take him to church and breakfast - the Mason Grill, of course.
February: I started having breakfast on Wednesday mornings with a mostly new group of friends. They call it the Breakfast Club but it's just a gathering of ROMEOs. Andrew and Emily ended up in Oakley sometime this year. I got a new car - another white CRV. Am I boring or what?
March: Jack invested in a new house not to be outdone by his sister. Stacey and I participated?? in the annual Shamrock Shuffle here in West Chester. Evan was going to a lot of Hornets games in Charlotte where he now lives. Andy, Missy and family were down in the Caribeann somewhere for Spring Break.
April: Family celebrated Easter with a brunch at Andy and Missy's estate. I made muffins! Milo was heavy into lacrosse. Pisgah Pete and the Dirty Spaniard made the big time with a splash on Spotify and other venues. Andrew and Emily cracked heads together playing a game - stitches were involved.
May: Joe and Jack thrilled us with the Flying Pig Marathon races. I spent a day making turkey soup for the poor with necks we had saved since last Thanksgiving's big roast. Milo graduated! I spent nine fun days in LA with Sharon, Ken and her kids.
June: I was concentrating on preparation for cateract eye surgery. Andy and the Jive Turkey's played Macs in Mariemont to a huge crowd. Nashville! The greatest party I ever attended. A whole weekend of fun with family as I turned 80. Sometime this Summer, Andrew and Emily visited Portugal and Spain to see how a wedding is done.
July: Eye surgery - two separate. Lots of eye drops and follow-ups. I attended my friend Keith's birthday party at Lake Cumberland.
August: Had a bump removed from an eyelid surgically. Golf outing near Columbus for the D'Varga children. Milo getting ready to start at UC. Andy and Missy visited friends in Colorado.
September: As Frank and Shelley's house was being built in Florida, they bought another in Indian Hill.
Mac turned ONE! Andy and Missy went off to Florida - again. Scot and Stacey spent time at Lake Cuimberland. Sharon, Kris, Taylor and Ally came to town. Amy and Jeff moved to a great new place in Ivy Hills. Frank treated us to dinner at Jeff Ruby's and all went to the Bengals game and saw an exciting win. Ben spent some quality time in Texas doing some Ranger style training. Frank, Chelle and family found time to visit Portland, Oregon for a few days.
October: The Scot Fuhrmans were off to the Carolinas for a few days. RJ ran his first 5K. Stacey had her 40-year highschool reunion.
November: Joe zipped around a 1/2 marathon course for his PB and led the field in his age group. With my church, I helped put together 420 turkey meals for people who need help. Thanksgiving was celebrated at Scot and Stacey's with family. The Dupps tore down the IH house. My derm doc found another bad spot in my skin - we'll dig some more out in January.
December: Scot watched Navy beat Army from a box at Ravens Stadium. The Dupps were off to Chicago for a weekend. Michael finally popped the question in Central Park and Maddy answered "Yes!". We had a huge December snow. Andrew finally popped the question and Emily said "Yes!" Katie, Stacey and I made Christmas cookies. Christmas eve we were all at Frank & Shell's for the annual white elephant. OK, I saved the best for last: Ben & Bella announced that I'm due to be a great grandfather to another boy about the time I turn 81.
