STORIES MY DAD TOLD ME
My dad's first real job was at National Distillers in the Carthage area of Cincinnati. He worked there just out of high school until he went into the military during World War II. You could see the plant along the west side of I-75 just north of the Paddock Road exit. The plant was built in 1935 and razed in the 1980's. He told me that while he worked there, a co-worker was overcome by alcoholic fumes and fell into a large vat of spirits and drowned. Not a pretty way to go, even for an alcoholic.
