CINCINNATI SPORTS LAST WEEK

Both local teams played twice this weekend. On Wednesday night, number 10 Xavier played Charlotte and handled them easily with B.J. Raymond scoring 23 and freshman Kenny Frease putting in 17. It was the Muskies 9th straight win.

Also on Wednesday, the Bearcats hosted number 25 Georgetown and fought them tooth and nail all night coming away with a 65-57 win. Deonta Vaughn has 20 for Cincinnati. UC took their Big East Record to 4-4.

On Saturday, Xavier got more than they bargained for out of UMass but eked out a 82-80 win. Derrick Brown led the way with 23 points. B.J.Raymond added 22 and C.J. Anderson had 19 points.

On Super Bowl Sunday, the Bearcats were back in Philadelphia to play number 21 Villanova. This was a one-point game at the half but midway through the second period, 'nova pulled away for a 71-50 win - their 25th straight at the Pavilion. Alvin Mitchel had 15 for the Cats.

On Sunday night, we were treated to a super exciting Super Bowl game. Next year the Bengals will....
