RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

ALEX

About this time of year in 356 BC, a boy was born who became known as Alexander the Great.  He was a runt of a kid who grew to only about 5'3".  He had one blue eye and one brown.  He lived less than 33 years.

When he was 20, he took over for his father as King of Macedonia (northern Greece).  In short order, he took the army and conquered Egypt (north Africa); he became the Pharaoh.  Then he conquered all of Persia (Asia Minor) and became king of that empire. He led his armies all the way to India and he declared himself the King of Asia.  All this made him the monarch of more people and more land than anyone else in the history of the world.

He was a brilliant military tactician and a ruthless one as well.  He not only defeated all his foes but killed anyone and everyone who might think they had a right to be or wanted to be king.  There is a good chance he died as a result of being poisoned.

Great?
