Corpus Christi.  Body of Christ.

Today we reflect on what it takes to survive.  The Jews were enslaved in Egypt for many years.  Led by Moses, they escaped but had to wander through the desert for 40 years before they were safe.  The Jews were sustained during much of this time by eating manna - the bread they found on the desert floor each morning.  For them it was the bread of life.  

When Jesus came to save them anew, he gave them and us his body as bread.  Manna was mortal food to save mortal lives.  His body is spiritual food to save our spiritual lives.  Survive!
