RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

5/18/2015

MAY 18

On this date in 1969, Apollo 10 blasted off from Cape Kennedy on an eight-day mission to the moon and back.  This was the dress rehearsal flight for Apollo 11 which landed on the moon two months later.

The commander of this mission was Thomas Stafford.  He would have been famous like Neil Armstrong if he were one group later in the astronaut rotation. The luck of the draw puts some in the history books and some in the record books and some just booked.
