SUNDAY SERVICE

The readings for this Sunday from both Old and New Testament are about sheep and their shepherd.  It was a plain and understandable example for that time.

The really interesting thing is in Mark's gospel where Jesus suggested to the Apostles that they go away to a quiet place and rest.  The Apostles had put in several days of preaching and many people were following them incessantly.  As it turned out, the people would not let them rest.  Jesus looked with pity on the people and said they were like lost sheep.

Still, the 'getting away' is an important thing.  We should take that to heart.  Give yourself time to be alone or at least alone with your partner.  It is important.  It is this theory that promotes religious retreats, meditation and renewal.
