OPPOSITION

No softball game last night due to the rain.  Here is a skywatcher's alert.

Tomorrow, Mars will be in opposition.  What does that mean you say?  Mars is in opposition when it is directly opposite the Sun with respect to the Earth.  As the Sun sets Sunday evening in the West, Mars will be rising in the East.  When Mars is setting in the West the next morning, Sun will be rising in the East.  It doesn't happen very often.  In addition, because of it's orbit, Mars will be relatively close to the Earth and will appear larger than normal.

How about that?  Get out there tomorrow evening and check it out.
