POTPOURRI

My website suggestion of the week has to do with post-yule depression.  Not that it will make you happy but if you're like my wife, you find the sound of rain very calming.  Lord knows we need 'calm' after the holidays.  Tune-in to www.rainymood.com  and turn up the volume.

Cincinnati was the first city in the country to have a municipal fire code.  I suppose it covered the number of people allowed in a given space - the type of building materials to be used in public structures - the use of fire hydrants and their location - description of exit doors.  The Cincinnati Fire Division was the leader.

"Money can't buy love."  Some people think you can it rent it, though.

The Arctic surrounding the North Pole is totally ice - no land - a submarine can navigate underneath all of it.  On the other hand, Antarctica, surrounding the South Pole, is a continent because it does have land.  The Antarctic Continent is the driest spot on Earth.

What they call a reindeer in Europe and Asia is called a caribou in North America  . . . except at Christmas time.   I guess Rudolph the Red Nosed Caribou didn't work.

Is it possible that all the college football bowl games actually make money for somebody?  Who?
