RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

SUNDAY SERVICE

The Church has moved on to Ordinary Time.  It's the time, in this case, after the feast of the Baptism of Jesus and before Ash Wednesday.   It started this week.

If you think Ordinary means ordinary, you're wrong.  Ordinary comes from ordinal, meaning number.  These are the numbered weeks during the calendar year.

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, let's see what John the Evangelist tells us about John the Baptist when he first saw Jesus.  The baptizer is quoted as saying, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world."  Do we need go any further.  He recognized Jesus for what He was.

Recognition is the first step.  We have to recognize Jesus when we see Him.  We have to recognize God when we see Him.  We have to recognize the Spirit when we see Him.

So, the first step is easy.  You know where He is.  You know where you will see Him.  Everywhere in all that is good.  Acknowledge Him.
