SPORTS OF ALL SORTS - CINCINNATI

Brandon Phillips is gone.  The Cincinnati Reds have traded him to Atlanta for almost nothing.  They even agreed to pay most of his salary next year for the Braves.  Its all part of their rebuilding plan.

Brandon was the most beloved and fan-friendly player on the team the past ten years.  He provided many moments of entertainment to the city.  He will be missed.

Speaking of baseball, the Reds' pitchers and catchers have reported to the Spring Training facility in Goodyear, AZ.  Tomorrow, the whole squad should be there.  The preseason games start in a week. Opening Day - April, 3 vs the Phillies..

Both UC and XU basketball teams lost last weekend.  But, the season moves inexorably toward March and the madness it brings.  March 12 is "Selection Sunday".  Yesterday, the Bearcats walked over weak South Florida but the Musketeers, without their star Trevon Bluiettt, lost at Providence.

The Bengals will have an interesting off season.  Lots is happening.  This week they acquired a corner back from Carolina -  he was the top of his class as a rookie but broke his leg last year.  Three important players are free agents; Witworth, Zeitler and Kirkpatrick.  It will take big bucks to resign them all.  The draft of college players takes place April 27 -29.
