RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

WHEN I WAS A KID

When I was a kid, I learned a little game from a friend.  It doesn't come into use very often but when it does, it can be fun.

Here goes:  if you get stopped by a train on the roadway, try adding the number on the cars.  Most train cars will have a 6-digit number in large font printed on the side.  Add the numbers individually. Obviously, the faster the train the more difficult the task.   Its more fun if you have someone to play against.

Example: a train car with the number 350672 would add to 23;  3+5+0+6+7+2.  Try not to skip any cars. You will be surprised at good you can get at it.  In the advanced form of the game, you add the first car to the second and so forth.  As an added bonus, keeping your mind busy will make the train pass more quickly.

I still do it!
