CINCINNATI

One of the little known and maybe under-appreciated gems in Cincinnati is a college at the University of Cincinnati commonly called DAAP.  The college of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning is really a gem.

According to Business Insider, UC's DAAP is one of the top three design schools in the world.  It is the top school of it's kind associated with a state (public) university.  The other tops schools are the MIT Media Lab and the Rhode Island School of Design.

(Business Insider is German-owned and New York based with editions published around the world. It is the fastest growing internet publication of its type with an estimated 70 million visitors per month.)

DAAP was established in 1819 and the current dean is Robert Probst.  The college has programs on the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Here are some of the areas of study available in the college:
School of Design:  Fashion design, graphic communication, industrial design (rated #1 in the nation)
School of Architecture:  architectural design (rated #6 nationally) interior design (rated #1 nationally)
School of Art:  art history, fine arts
School of Planning:  urban planning, urban design, horticulture, urban landscapes

This college is a gold mine of opportunity for talented people; a gold star for the university and the city.  It brings bright people to the town.  Some of them never leave.
