A pangolin looks like a scaled anteater.  It does have scales but its not an anteater.  Currently, it is the most poached animal in the world.  The pangolin is a nocturnal animal that lives in the jungles of Asia and Africa.  It's scales offer it some protection from predators but mostly it just has to climb a tree to get out of trouble.  The pangolin is now considered an endangered species.  Sadly, the Chinese value it's scales for use in medicine and cosmetic products.  The scales are a hot item on the black market.
