CINCINNATI

One of the small cities that surround Cincinnati and serve as a bedroom suburb is Milford.  Milford lies just north and east of the Cincinnati city center.  It's population is just about 6,500.

Milford sits mostly east of the Little Miami River.  The Little Miami runs over 100 miles and empties into the Ohio River.  The river got it's name from the Miami Indian tribe which once ruled this area.

Milford happens to be the first location north of the Ohio River that someone could cross the Little Miami on foot - at times, the water there is shallow enough to ford.  Yes, there was a large mill operating on that river but it burned to the ground in 1920.

Today, it is a quaint little town whose main street is dotted with restaurants and antique shops.  That main street leads to a fancy new bridge so fording the river is unnecessary.
