RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

WOOLY BULLY

I was in Vietnam in 1966 and 1967.  One of the crazy songs from that era that is stuck in my memory is "Wooly Bully" by Sam the Sham and the Pharoahs.  The name of the song and the group makes the adjective "crazy" superfluous.

This popped into my head the other day when I heard a story about the woolly mammoth.  The woolly mammoth is an extinct creature from the prehistoric times which last roamed the Earth during the Ice Age - maybe 12,000 years ago.  They resemble an elephant except with huge tusks and woolly hair covering the skin.

More mammoth carcasses are being found every day in Siberia and Alaska.  They have been literally frozen in time - so much so that good DNA exists.  We all may see a woolly mammoth some day. Attempts are being made to have an elephant carry one to birth.  Harvard University scientists expect to have a hybrid alive in two years.

OMG!  Jurassic Park!
