WEEKEND LITURGY

ISAIAH 5:1-7     PSALM 80     PHILIPPIANS 4:6-9     MATTHEW 21:33-43

We hear another parable related by Matthew this week.  Again, it is directed to the leaders of the Jewish community and He uses the example of a vineyard.  As it is a parable, it relates to something besides what you hear.

If the tenant operators, those living on the vineyard, that the owner hired to take care of the it are evil and greedy, what should he with them?  Throw them out, of course.  Everyone agrees.

But, of course, the vineyard is this world.  The vineyard does not belong to the ones who live in it but to God.  Take care of the vineyard, see that it produces fruit or you'll be thrown out.  Do as the "owner" wants.
