CINCINNATI

Have you ever heard of the city of Kastoria?  It is a beautiful little town in northern Greece, the region of Macedonia.  The town is situated on a promontory in Lake Orestiada.  You will find grand Byzantine Churches and stately homes on the shores of the gorgeous lake.  Nearby you can see a huge cave, aquatic and avian sanctuaries and an ancient monastery.  Kastoria is famous for it's fur trade around the world.

Have you asked yourself, "What does this have to do with Cincinnati?"  The answer is food.  A hundred years ago, a small boy there with eyes agape watched his mother cook.  In awe he learned the family recipes for among other things, chili.  His name was Nicholas Lambrinides.

In 1949, he founded a restaurant chain in Cincinnati called Skyline Chili.  It is a tradition in this town.  His mother's secret recipes born in Kastoria are still used.  Long live Cincinnati chili.
