CINCINNATI

FC CINCINNATI

To the uninformed, FC stands for Futbol Club.  To those totally uninformed, Futbol is what they call soccer back in the old sod or as my father's countrymen used to say, auld sod.

FC Cincy has been a big hit in the city in the 2-1/2 years since it's inception.  They play in the United Soccer League (USL) - a minor league compared to the Major Soccer League (MSL).  The boys from Cincy have a strong desire to play among those in the MSL.  For a handsome hunk of money, the MSL might let you in their league - might is a mighty word.  Among the requirements is a fitting stadium that the team can call their own.  To this end, FC Cincy has been searching the area for money and a suitable location to locate a new stadium.

The team likes a spot in the West End near Taft High School.  They have come to an agreement with Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) for the property.  The final blessing for the arrangement must come from Cincinnati City Council.  Mayor John Cranley has called a special meeting of council for tomorrow for that vote.  The rush is the result of the MSL having a meeting scheduled for Tuesday in which a franchise could possible be given to FC Cincinnati.  The City's investment in the project would have to do with infrastructure and parking requirements.   Nothing is 'for certain' when politicians are involved.

Were you wondering what FC Cincinnati's mascot is?  Like the Reds!  Bengals!  Musketeers!  Bearcats!  Cyclones!   Well, wonder no more.  They have no mascot - just a bunch of fanatics who sit each game in an end zone seat area they call "The Bailey."

Oh! The money . . . Carl Lindner III
Many thanks!
