INTERFAITH WISDOM

Today, the Roman Catholic Church, and those sects in communion with it, are celebrating the Feast of the Assumption of Mary into Heaven; Mary, the mother of Jesus.  It is a religious tenet of those religions that Mary was taken to heaven, body and soul at the time when her earthly life came to an end.

Of all human beings, Mary was chosen to carry and bear the infant Jesus; Jesus - both God and man.  In that she was the mother of God, she is honored as Mother of the Church and Queen of Heaven.

Here is the simple but beautiful verse asking Mary to pray for us.  In it, you will find the words of the angel and her cousin, Elizabeth, found in the Gospel's of Luke and Matthew.

Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary mother of God pray for us sinners
now, and at the hour of our death.
Amen
