THE WORD THIS WEEKEND

This weekend at Catholic mass you will hear Luke's gospel version of the Sermon on the Mount.  In it he describes Jesus teaching making verbal use of 'yin and yang'.

You see, Luke writes that Jesus said, "Blessed are the poor for the kingdom of God shall be theirs."  Later in the verse, he quotes Jesus, "Woe to you who are rich, for you have (already) received your consolation."  Likewise, he writes that Jesus said, "Blessed are the hungry for they shall be satisfied." and then later says, "Woe to you who are filled (with food) now for you will be hungry."   Of course, there are more examples.

This 'yin and yang' thing is a Chinese philosophy that tells us that opposite things can also be complimentary.   I think the message hits a little harder when you hear the same story told from two opposite directions.  Listen closely this weekend and translate the words to your life.

God Bless America
