Let me introduce you to the oldest park in the city. It's name is Piatt Park. This urban park was established in 1817 and is under the care of the Cincinnati Park Board.
John Piatt and his brother Ben donated the land to the city. John was a local steamboat builder and Ben was a judge. The land only covers about 1 acre. It lies between Elm Street and Vine Street and crosses Race Street. The tree-lined esplanade is bounded north and south by Eighth Street and Garfield Place.
A large statue of President James Garfield guards one end of the tract and another of President William Henry Harrison the other. For a while, the park was known as Garfield Park. It's gorgeous and serene - a calm spot in the bustling town. Come visit on a steamy, hot Summer day.
