LONGWORTH HALL

Have you seen the big long building near the Ohio River on the lower West side of city center?  It is called Longworth Hall and stands on Pete Rose Way between Gest Street and I-75.  It was built in 1903 by the B&O railroad as a freight terminal.  It is a brick structure around huge wood beams with details not found on today's buildings.

It is long - some called it a skyscraper on its side.  When it was built, it was one of the longest buildings in the world. It is five stories in height and 1,277 feet long.  It is very similar construction to Camden Yards in Baltimore, MD.  Longworth Hall has been on the National Register of Historic Structures since 1986.

It was originally a staging, shipping and receiving building for the railroad but now been renovated as a mixed use facility with an event center plus entertainment, office and retail space  Make a visit and enjoy some history.
