BENGAL-MANIA

It's Bengal Friday - I'm guessing that the mania is waning in the city.   It is week 4 of the 16-game 17-week season.

Last week, we kissed our sister in the city of Brotherly Love.  23-all was the score.  Of course, the bookies guessed a total score of 46 - they're hard to beat.  The defense looked a little better - the passing game was so-so and the running game was worse than so-so.  Young Joe Burrow was is piling up decent statistics but this young team hasn't learned how to win.  They had plenty of chances in last week's game but couldn't come up with a big play to make the difference.

Well, lift up your collective chins.  Another week brings another chance at redemption.  This week the Jacksonville Jaguars come to town.  Paul Brown Stadium will be loaded with a few crazies - the State of Ohio will allow up to 6,000 in attendance.  The Jaguars are 1-2 on the season having beaten the Colts and lost to the Titans and Dolphins.  That is a weak schedule.

The bookies in Vegas have staked their money on the Bengals as 3 point favorites - 49 being the over/under total score for both teams.   I do not want to encourage betting on anything - I don't.

Here's what to watch for this Sunday from Jacksonville:  Jags' quarterback is Gardner Minshew, a second year guy having growing pains.  He throws to tight end Tyler Eifert (ex-Bengal) and all-pro D.J. Chark Jr.  The Jags offense is coordinated by Jay Gruden who did the same for the Bengals a few years ago.

Watch for this from the Bengals:  the defense only allowed two touchdowns last week; both were scored in the last two minutes of each half.  This has got to stop and be a point of emphasis this week and in the future.

The Bengals will be back to their black uni's this week.

Let's hope we hear "Who Dey" at 4 pm Sunday.
