RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

THE WORD THIS WEEKEND

At Catholic mass this weekend, you will hear Matthew's account of Jesus' parable about the king who had a wedding feast for his son.  He likened the event to heaven.  "Many are called but few are chosen."  I must admit I always felt sorry for the man at the feast not wearing the proper garments whom the king had thrown out.  I might not have always worn the proper garments to an affair.  The short point is this:  we are ALL called to be with God in heaven - but not all will be worthy.  Dress yourself appropriately; dress yourself in good works.

Instead of dwelling on that, I want to say a little about this month of October and the times in which we live.   October is the month of the rosary.  The rosary is a combination of prayers suggested by Mary, the mother of Jesus, to several people to whom she appeared.  For a "how to" you can refer to my entry of 8/19/2020 by opening the archive to your right.

The Marian apparitions, as they are called, mostly happened in times of great turmoil; the world wars, for instance.  Mary suggested this prayer to help solve the world's problems.  Surely, we need some help right now.  The current pandemic, strife in our streets and the presidential election would certainly be good reasons to pray and there is no better prayer.

May God bless you.  I love you.
