BENGAL MANIA

Our poor boys are traveling to Pittsburgh this weekend.  What could be worse?  A root canal?  A colonoscopy without anesthetics?  An overnight stay in the zoo?  The Steelers are the only undefeated team in the NFL at 8-0 . . . and besides that, I hate 'em.

Last Sunday, this week's game opened in Las Vegas with Pittsburgh a 9-1/2 to 10 point favorite.  It has been bet down to just 7 to 7-1/2 points with the over/under for total points at a moderate 47 or 47-1/2 points.  Bettors call those 1/2 points "the hook".  That's where they get you - it attracts betting.  Betting houses win if all bets come in at half on each team and half on either over or under.  If they're not getting enough action, they add the hook to attract more bettors.

This week the Bengals have picked up a new defensive lineman, an edge rusher named Takk McKinley.  Takk is short for Takkarist.  The Falcons drafted him in the first round three years ago and let him go last week.  (Strange.)   I don't think he can play until next week.

We're hoping the Bengals got a lot healthier on the bye week - but won't know until the weekend.  The cloud hanging over the game for both teams is COVID-19.  If key players on either squad are effected and can't play, it could sway the game.

Cincinnati is back to the White and Orange jerseys this week.  Those color rush uni-s did the trick against the Titans.

Who-Dey!
