Concurrent with the big push to curtail climate change, the federal government is pushing to curtail the use of earthen products to make usable energy. Earthen products (oil, gas, coal and the like) have carbon dioxide as a residual in the energy making/using process. Carbon dioxide is thought to be a creator of climate change. The major 'carbon dioxide-free' energy sources are wind, sunlight, nuclear, river flows and ocean tides. Most agree that it would be a good idea to change over our use of earthen fuels to some 'clean' energy sources.
Personally, I hate that these changes are being forced on us. I believe that necessity IS the mother of invention. We will discover and perfect new sources and uses of clean energy as needed. Our country is full of entrepreneurs who will find a way if there is money to be made. Paying companies to produce clean energy products which are not competitive with current products is wrong. The incentive to produce a better product or system is taken away. In the long run, it may take longer to get where we want to be.
Here is another slant to the whole boondoggle. Our government granting subsidies for the manufacture and purchase of "clean energy" products is just a case of taking money from the poor and giving it to the rich. You know that any time the government gives someone money, it is your money they are giving. And who receives the money for the manufacture and purchase of "clean energy" products? People who can afford electric motor cars - not the poor. Tesla sells a half dozen models the least expensive is practically $50,000. Do automakers need our money? Does the person who is able to afford a $50,000 car need our money. This just seems wrong to me.
What do you think?
