MIDWEEK PRAYER

Our Church has traditionally dedicated the month of May to Mary, the mother of Jesus.  Rightfully, so.

Mary is mentioned throughout the New Testament of the Bible; from Luke's synoptic version to the Gospel according to John.   Her words at the Annunciation and Visitation are memorable.  They are included in our beautiful prayer asking Mary to pray for us now and at the hour of our death.

Now let me ask you.  What were the last most memorable words your mother may have said to you, more than once, as you were leaving the house?  Maybe, "Don't be late!"  Maybe, "Drive carefully!"  Those last words were saved to make a deep, lasting impression on you.

Well, do you know the last words of Mary that anyone quoted?  The last of her words quoted in all the Bible?  Let them have a deep impression on you.  At Cana, during the wedding feast, she is quoted as saying finally, "Do whatever He tells you to do."

Great advice for us all.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you.
Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen
