FRIDAY SURPRISES

I have a good friend named Wong - Reverend Dr. Louis Wong.  He's an  American; born and raised here.  He is a Catholic deacon, has a PHD in chemistry from Purdue University, retired from P&G, has three kidneys but only one works and he's a poor golfer.   His name, Wong, is one of the most common in China.

Soon, we will have a piece of American currency with the image of an Asian-American imprinted on it.  A quarter will carry the image of Anna May Wong.  She was the first Chinese-American movie star in Hollywood.  Her real name was Wong Liu Tsong.  Most movie stars use a stage name.

My friend's Chinese name is Fayshell.  Don't ask me to explain that one.  There's a whole bunch we don't know or don't understand about the Chinese culture, as well as the language.  So much to learn.

Here is your first bit of information.  In China, the locals greet each other by saying Ni Hau (pronounced knee how).  Literally it means "you good" but it passes for "Hello".   Try it out on a friend.
