I was watching the French Open tennis championship a couple of weeks ago and caught sight of something that struck a cord with me. I'll share it with you.
Carlos Alcaraz defeated Alexander Zverev in 5 sets in the finals. The match lasted 4 hours and 19 minutes - which is a long time to consistently play championship level tennis. Very exciting!
The match was at Stade Roland-Garros in Paris which was named for a famous World War I fighter pilot. Emblazoned in large letters on the facade of the grandstand at Court Philippe Chatrier (the main court) was the following English maxim:
"VICTORY BELONGS TO THE MOST TENACIOUS"
Amen!
