This is for golfers and non-golfers alike. It really has little to do with golf. Just understand that it is difficult to hit a golf ball where you want to hit it.
You know that golfers carry a number of clubs (up to 14); each for different purposes. The irons hit balls short, medium and long distances. The driver hits balls the furthest. The putter is for use on the regular surface of a golf green.
Now, when you practice, you want to teach yourself to hit a ball where you want and to determine how far you hit it with each club. Here is one of the things you learn.
One of the side benefits of practicing hitting golf balls is you learn is an appreciation for geometry. If you start off hitting a wedge or other short iron and, hit balls just a little to the right of target, you may feel your are doing well and it is acceptable. What you learn is that a few yards to the right of target is a few degrees right of target. When you go to hit a mid or long iron and you are a few degrees right of target, you ball will end up many, many yards right of target.
Did I lose you? Here's the point. Don't accept being a little off in easy things. You may just end up far off the track in larger things. If you think its okay to do a little something wrong, maybe you're unknowingly preparing yourself for a big one.
"Don't sweat the small stuff" doesn't have to do with bad things or sins. Be trustworthy in small matters and you can be trusted in larger ones.
